Council is aware of damage that has occurred to several historic grave sites in Rows P, Q and R within the Kapunda Cemetery.
This incident is deeply distressing, particularly for families and community members with connections to those laid to rest. Council is working closely with South Australia Police (SAPOL), and investigations are currently underway.
Anyone who may have information that could assist is urged to contact SAPOL directly 131 444.
Council officers are presently assessing the extent of the damage. Once assessments are complete, Council will work sensitively and directly with impacted families regarding next steps.
Out of respect for the site and to ensure investigations can proceed without interference, Council asks members of the public to refrain from attending the affected area at this time. While intentions may be well-meaning, additional visitation may hinder investigative efforts.
