Council, at its discretion, may activate the Community Support Grant Fund in response to an emergency event. Examples of emergency events that may trigger the use of this Fund include a local disaster such as (but not limited to) a fire, storm, flood, landslide, infrastructure failure, violence, animal or plant disease, and human pandemic.
In these circumstances, Council may activate the Community Support Grant Funding Program to provide once-off assistance to small clubs and community groups towards their operational expenses during a defined period, subject to:
- an associated ‘Emergency Direction’ declared by the State Emergency Coordinator; and
- Council allocating an associated budget provision (within a specific financial year).
The Community Support Grant Funding Program, offers grant amounts to reimburse unexpected expenditure incurred in response to an emergency situation, based on an application meeting the relevant criteria, and supported by related documentation, such as receipts detailing the additional expenditures incurred.
