Tier 3 - Major Events - Program Closed
Major events will have a strong resonance with a town centre, village or brand and attract visitors to the destination from outside the Light Region. Characteristics would include:
- Attract significant numbers of visitors, upwards of 10,000 people;
- Generate support from Events SA and national / international organisations;
- Contribute to immediate and long-term measurable economic and community outcomes;
- Attract significant metropolitan, national and/or international media coverage.
Major Events seeking funding support or sponsorship from Council will be considered on an event-by-event basis through a written request addressed to Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Council’s CEO may request that the event organiser present to Council via a deputation at a Council meeting, to gauge the Council’s interest in considering funding support or sponsorship before assessing a request and making a recommendation to the Council.
Event information similar to that required for Tier 2 Regional / Significant Events is necessary to assess a request for funding or sponsorship. Information should address and will be evaluated against all nine (9) Assessment Criteria.
