Creative Industries

The creative industries, a dynamic fusion of sectors encompassing arts, culture, screen, design, publishing, and advertising, span a spectrum from game development and graphic design to fashion and filmmaking, performing arts and publishing, architecture and advertising, media and music, comedy and craft. These industries form a vital part of the Light Region's identity and contribute significantly to its reputation as a premier destination for the arts, complementing its already distinguished standing in food, wine, and culture.

"The creative industries in regional South Australia play an important role in activating social cohesion, affirming a sense of place, encouraging pride in practitioners’ and others’ home locations, and providing micro-business and small-to-medium business opportunities within the local community" - Creative State – Victoria’s First Creative Industries Strategy 2026-2020

Light Regional Council actively supports a variety of initiatives and services that directly benefit creative industries in the Barossa region, fostering partnerships  with organisations  such as Regional Development Australia, Kapunda Town Mural Project, 100 Barossa Artists, Wonderground and Kapunda Gallery to name a few.

Recognising the profound impact of creative industries on community wellbeing, we prioritise social opportunities, cultural identity, and artist development, all of which contribute to enhancing regional tourism experiences.

Notable creatives in the Light Regional Council include No Quiet Fest, Barossa Arts Festival, JamFactory Seppeltsfield, Red Hot Summer Tour and SummerSalt. These initiatives exemplify the region's commitment to nurturing creativity and supporting the vibrancy of its cultural landscape.
