Gifts and Benefits Register

Elected Members

The Code of Conduct for Council Members commenced on 1 September 2013 through the Local Government (General) Variation Regulations 2013, gazetted in the Government Gazette on 22 August 2013. It requires that gifts and benefits received by Council Members be recorded on a register, which is available to be viewed by the public. For the purposes of 3.10 of the Code of Conduct, the threshold amount governing when a gift or benefit must be registered is gazetted at $50.

Council Employees

The Code of Conduct for Council Employees commenced on 13 February 2014, published by the Minister for Planning for the purposes of Section 110(1) of the Local Government Act 1999, gazetted in the Government Gazette on 13 February 2014 and re-gazetted on 20 February 2014. It requires that gifts and benefits received by Council Employees be recorded on a register, which is available to be viewed by the public. For the purposes of Clause 2.21 of the Code of Conduct, the threshold amount governing when a gift or benefit must be registered is currently gazetted at $50.
