Both Council and contractors/suppliers have shared responsibilities and must work together to ensure the health and safety of themselves and others.

All contractors/suppliers are required to provide:

  • Proof of relevant and current insurance(s) e.g. public liability (min. $20,000,000), product liability, professional indemnity, vehicle and equipment
  • Proof of current registration with ReturnToWork SA (if applicable)
  • Evidence of relevant and current qualifications,  licences, certifications, accreditations
  • Evidence of policies and procedures that comply with legislative requirements and Council’s minimum WHS expectations
  • Identification of person(s) from the supplier responsible for WHS
  • Appropriate documentation that demonstrates hazards relating to the activities have been identified, assessed and controlled and any other specific legislative requirements are being met
  • Evidence of additional WHS requirements as determined by Council based on the level of risk and the task or activity undertaken.

Upon engagement by Council and to assist with both the exchange of health and safety information and to minimise gaps in work health safety management, Council will send contractors/suppliers an online WHS Fundamentals induction for completion. This online induction will remain valid for four (4) years and it is the responsibility of engaged contractors/suppliers to ensure that their workers/subcontractors are informed of the induction content.

Council will perform site inductions, require contractors/suppliers to submit work/site specific hazard management documentation, and undertake contractor WHS monitoring to ensure WHS standards are being met.
