Light Regional Council is thrilled to announce that construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Greenock Road, Samuel Road and Moppa Road South will be commencing in the coming weeks.
Council has received funding through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program, and together with its own contribution and that from the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) is able to complete the $2.6m intersection upgrade project.
“It’s fantastic to see the Malinauskas Government contributing $450,000 towards the construction of a new roundabout in Nuriootpa – something I advocated for in Opposition. Local residents have been clear in their calls for a new roundabout at this intersection, and this contribution will ultimately help improve safety for all drivers. This roundabout will not only help reduce the risk of a fatal collision or serious injury but also assist the flow of traffic” Member for Light Tony Piccolo.
Light Regional Council is excited to be leading such an important and much anticipated project that will have enduring road safety and traffic management benefits for tourists, freight movements and commuters who live and work in or visit our region every day.
Council looks forward to delivering the desired outcomes for the community with the project anticipated to be completed by October 2024.
Details of a community information session will be advised shortly.
