Light Regional Council is excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Darryl Whicker as Chief Executive Officer, commencing in late March 2026.

Darryl is currently Chief Executive Officer at the District Council of Grant, a position he has held since 2019. With more than 20 years of experience in local government and a strong track record of delivering positive outcomes for communities, Darryl brings extensive knowledge in governance, strategic planning, and community engagement.

Mayor Bill Close said the appointment marks an important step forward for the region: “We are delighted to welcome Darryl to Light Regional Council. His experience and leadership will help us build on our strengths and create new opportunities for our community.”

The appointment follows a thorough recruitment process to find a leader who shares Council’s commitment to collaboration and innovation. Darryl will play a key role in driving strategic priorities, including infrastructure planning, economic development, and enhanced services for residents.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Mark McShane will continue in the role until March and assist with onboarding to ensure a smooth transition.
