Waste Collection & Recycling
Kerbside Waste Collection
Council provides a kerbside waste management service to townships and portions of rural areas. Townships are provided with a 3 bin service and rural areas a 2 bin service.
Townships - 3 Bin Service - 140 litre red lidded general waste bin (weekly collection), 240 litre yellow lidded bin for recycling (fortnightly collection) and 240 litre green organics bin(fortnightly collection - on alternate week to recycling bin pickup).
Rural areas - 2 Bin Service - general waste (weekly collection) and recycling (fortnightly collection) only.
Commercial properties within any zone are eligible for a 2 bin service only (unless otherwise authorised) with a configuration of a 240 litre red lidded general waste bin and a 240 litre yellow lidded recycling bin, also charged at $295.00 per annum.
To ascertain whether there is a refuse route servicing your rural area, please contact Council. Once it has been confirmed that your property is located on an existing route, Solo Resource Recovery (8295 5077) can be contacted to arrange the new service including delivery of bins.
Council refuse charges per week are for the financial year are:
3 Bin System - $5.67 per week ($295.00/annum 2019/2020)
2 Bin System - $3.77 per week ($196.00/annum 2019/2020)
Note: The above fees are subject to Council resolution for the 2019/2020 Financial budget.
Refuse fees may alter per financial year, subject to Council resolution.
A bin weight limit (70-75kg) applies to all kerbside collection bins

Wednesday - Hewett-Gawler Industrial Park
Thursday- Kapunda East-Wasleys-Templers-Magdala-Woolsheds-Fords-Allendale North-Hamilton-Belvidere
Friday - Kapunda West (west of Main Street and Mildred Street)
· Place your bins out the night before your collection day
· Lids must open towards the road
· Bins must be placed 50cm apart

Bin collection days will remain the same if they fall on a public holiday except if the collection day falls on Christmas Day or New Years Day.
Where your collection day falls on Christmas Day or New Years Day, all collection days will be postponed for one day where the Friday collection will be completed on the Saturday. The following week normal collection days will resume.

Waste Transfer Stations

Open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 2pm - Closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, ANZAC Day, the Easter weekend, and public holidays.
Weather - please note that the facility will be closed:
- On Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating days;
- On Total Fire Ban days;
- Where the temperature is forecast for 35 degrees or above at Nuriootpa 6pm the night before.
Bans and Ratings are routinely issued by 5pm daily during the fire season by the CFS

NAWMA - Bellchambers Road, Edinburgh North - Clean chemical drums can be dumped for no charge.
EPA Depot - Magazine Road, Dry Creek - Opening Hours: open every 2nd Tuesday of the month between 9am and 12pm - accepts hazardous waste (chemicals, paint. photographic chemicals etc.)
E-Waste Disposal Options
E-Waste is now able to be disposed of FREE at the Kapunda Resource Recovery Centre.
Opening times 10am - 2pm Saturdays & Sundays
E-Waste quantities are restricted to household items only, commercial quantities are not accepted.
