Light Regional Council values biodiversity. A major source of our regional biodiversity is found in stands of roadside vegetation. Roadside vegetation provides a range of services which assist land managers. This includes controlling the spread of weeds, shelter for stock and crops and habitat for our native birds and animals.
The following report has identified high value areas which are worthy of more intensive management and protection. Over the coming years Council will be working with landholders and key partner agencies such as Natural Resources Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges in managing pest plants and animals and undertaking revegetation projects in order to improve the condition of these important areas.
