Organising safe, accessible, inclusive events and festivals

From 29 June 2020, ALL gatherings including events in South Australia must have a Covid-Safe Plan or a Covid Management Plan

For more information please refer to current requirements found the State Government Covid-19 Recovery website:

Light Regional Council recognises and values the important role that events and festivals play in the life and vitality of the region. Anyone planning to host an event or set-up a temporary stall on a public street, footpath, open space or property under the care and control of Light Regional Council must complete an Event Application form. To apply for an Event Permit, please return the Event Application form and other requested documents (including Public Liability Insurance certificate of currency) to Light Regional Council PO Box 72 KAPUNDA 5373 or Kapunda or Freeling Offices.

Please ensure you have read the Event Management Handbook and are aware of all the requirements and conditions before submitting an Event Application for Council’s consideration. A copy of the APPROVED Covid-Safe Plan or Covid Management Plan must be provided before a permit can be issued. Please allow additional time for SA Health to assess and approve the Covid Management Plan for your event

If you require further assistance, contact the Community Development Officer on telephone 8525 3200 or email to arrange a pre-lodgement discussion.

Accessible and Inclusive Events Checklist

Light Regional Council’s Revised Disability Access and Inclusion Action Plan aims to improve access and inclusion for all. We want to ensure that our community becomes more accessible and inclusive of people living with disability so they feel welcome, have access to services, can visit local businesses and open public spaces, and take part in everyday activities.

When organising an event, whether it’s a small indoor gathering or a bigger outdoor community event, there are some things to consider that will make your event enjoyable for everyone.

The Barossa, Light and Lower North Accessible and Inclusive Events Checklist is not an extensive list, but is a good place to start when planning your event to support people living with disability to join in.

Development Applications

If your event is going to last longer than three days, a development application may be required. For more information please contact Council’s Development Officer on 8525 3200.
