Purpose
The Mayor’s Inspiration Award recognises inspirational individuals of the highest level, within the Light Region.
The Award
A framed certificate, which may be accompanied by small gifts of relevance.
Selection criteria
This Award is very special and will be presented when an outstanding example of inspiration is brought to Council’s attention. The Mayor in conjunction with Council Members will then decide the recipient(s).
Presentation of Award
Presentation of the Award to be conducted by the Mayor of Light Regional Council, at any time as deemed appropriate.

Mayor’s Inspiration Award recipients
2020
At the Light Regional Council’s Australia Day Breakfast in Freeling on Sunday 26 January 2020, Mayor Bill O’Brien presented the Mayor’s Inspiration Award to Mr Lynn Martin.
Lynn, the Principal of Xavier College until November 2019, received the Award in relation to his services to education. This includes a sixteen-year tenure at Xavier College.

2019
At the Light Regional Council’s Australia Day Breakfast in Wasleys on Saturday 26 January 2019, Mayor Bill O’Brien presented the inaugural Mayor’s Inspiration Award to Mr Terry Lee and Brevet Sergeant David Byrne.
Both recipients received the Award in relation to their actions during and following the Pinery fire in November 2015.
