Mayoral Youth Recognition Award for Academic Achievement
THE AWARD:
A laminated certificate and financial incentive ($150 per student)
PURPOSE:
The Award recognises students who have achieved academic excellence in that year.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- The student must be enrolled in Year 12 at a secondary education institution located in Light Regional Council
- The student must demonstrate consistent academic excellence during Year 12
- The student must demonstrate positive values including: integrity, responsibility, respect, participation, cooperation, care and fairness
- Where possible, the student must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular community-based activities, such as community service, leadership and mentor roles, and/or participation in cultural, sport and recreation, science, technology, and arts activities
PRESENTATION OF AWARD:
Presentation of the Award to be conducted by the Mayor of Light Regional Council or delegate (by prior arrangement with Council)
The Award(s) will be presented (at the school’s discretion) to either one or two Year 12 students at the annual presentation evening in Term 4 of that year, or Term 1 in the following year.
