Event Organiser’s Guidelines & Application Forms
Anyone planning to host an event or set-up a temporary stall on a public street, footpath, open space or property under the care and control of Light Regional Council must complete a permit application form.

Community Event Permit
(this form must be submitted to Council - with public liability insurance and a risk management plan - at least six weeks prior to the event)
A Community Event is a public event of such scale that Council requires more detailed information in order to ensure public health and safety. Simple guidelines for what constitutes an event of this scale are:
a) An event where there will be more than 80 members of the public;
b) An event involving a road closure; or
c) An event with animals, parades, rides or amusement structures; or
d) An event where there will be more than five (5) food and/or beverage stalls.

Special Events and Street Stall Permit
(this form must be submitted to Council - with public liability insurance - at least three weeks prior to the event)
A Special Event or Stall Permit is required for all stalls to be held on public land (including footpaths). It is also suitable for small scale events (with estimated attendance less than 80 people).
Busking permits are an approval for a musician, actor or street performer or group of the same (up to a maximum of 6 people) to perform in a public place.
